MTN Scholarships under the Youth Development Cause is an annual award program designed to acknowledge and reward exceptional Nigerian students studying in public tertiary institutions. The scholarships are offered in various categories, including the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship, the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students, and the Top 10 UTME Scholarship.
The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship, now in its 12th year, is open to eligible 300 level students pursuing Science and Technology-related courses in Nigerian public tertiary institutions, including universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Each year, 300 successful students are awarded scholarships worth N200,000.00 annually until their graduation, provided they maintain the required grades.
In its 10th year, the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students aims to support qualified 200 level blind students studying any course in Nigerian public tertiary institutions. Sixty successful blind students are awarded scholarships worth N200,000.00 annually until graduation, subject to maintaining the required grades.
The Top 10 UTME Scholarship, introduced in 2020, is the latest addition to the MTN Scholarships program. Each year, the top 10 scoring candidates in the UTME (as announced by JAMB) automatically qualify for the scholarship. Regardless of their preferred course of study or the type of tertiary institution (public or private) they attend in Nigeria, the successful candidates receive scholarships worth N200,000.00 from their 100 level through to graduation, provided they maintain the required grades.
The application deadline for the MTN Scholarships is 15th August 2021. These scholarships are exclusively available to students from Nigeria. The scholarships are aimed at undergraduate students and provide a value of N200,000.00 annually until graduation.
